Sage ERP MAS 90 and 200: Deferred printing is the only option for forms or reports

If you're a Sage ERP MAS 90 or 200 user you may have run into this issue once or twice. 

While trying to print a report you'll notice that the only printer which is displayed as selectable is DEFERRED. You will be able to view other printers on your Windows computer and most of them will be active. However when you go into MAS90 or MAS200 you find that the printers cannot be selected.

Why is this? 

Solution? Usually it's because you have an invalid printer on your workstation. Most typically this will be a printer that it not even in use any longer. When Sage ERP MAS 90 or 200 is on a print related screen (one where a printer selection will be offered) it first scans to see if any printers are unreachable or reporting errors. If it finds any "bad" printers it may prevent you from selecting a printer at all.

The solution is to remove unreachable printers (any that report errors when you try to print a test page) and re-start MAS90.

Sage Maintenance Costs May Need Re-Computing For Plans Expiring After 4/12/2011

CUSTOMERS EXPIRING PRIOR TO APRIL 12TH: 
There are no issues quoting or placing renewal orders on SSO for customers expiring prior to April 12th so feel free to continue processing those quotes and orders as usual. 

CUSTOMERS EXPIRING APRIL 12TH AND BEYOND: 
The new Business Care pricing has been applied to customers that expire April 12th and beyond. The new Business Care pricing is on the customer's renewal invoice they received from Sage and it is correct. The new Business Care pricing will be reflected on SSO on April 12th. So if you need to re-quote or place orders for customers expiring April 12th and beyond, please contact your Client Care Rep.

Why Is My MAS90 Upgrade Quote So Expensive?

We receive many inquiries about the cost to upgrade MAS 90 and MAS 200 to the latest 4.4 version. By far most people are looking to satisfy themselves that the quote that their present consultant provided (usually just  range of hours) is fair.

Usually a customer is shocked to see that our quote is higher than what they think their consultant is going to charge them. That is until they think that they really haven't gotten a price from their consultant - rather they have an estimate that is probably going to vary when that final bill is sent.

Sage ERP MAS90: Social Security Employer Match and Medicare Employer Match records are not populated for Federal eFiling and Reporting

Users of Sage ERP MAS 90 and MAS 200 e-Filing should download program patch PR-4047-T which fixes an issue with e-filing and Social Security Employer Match and Medicare Employer Match records are not populated for Federal eFiling and Reporting.

Sage's Knowledgebase further identifies the issue as:

Liability amounts are incorrect on Form 941 in eFiling and Reporting. The amounts on Line 17 and the Schedule B do not include the Employer Social Security and Medicare amounts.

MAS90 2010 Interim Release Disk Available Now

If you need to update your MAS 90 or MAS 200 system for year end payroll or accounts payable changes then you should log onto the Sage website and claim your copy of their latest Interim Release Disk (aka IRD).

This download installs to any of the currently supported MAS 90 or MAS 200 versions. It slightly modifies only those program files needed to process year end forms and reports (1099 forms, Electronic Media, 941 supporting reports).

MAS90 and MAS200 Accounting is now available at version 4.4. And with Sage releasing Product Updates (which add new functionality) at the rate of about three updates per year - there is a good chance you need assistance with an upgrade.

MAS90 Forum Discussions - Viewing New Posts Without Logging In or Registering

 Here's a quick tip with information on how you can read the very latest discussions from end users and consultants about issues concerning Sage MAS90 and MAS200.

The publisher of the software, Sage, operates a free discussion forum where you can read numerous helpful topics related to running and maintaining your MAS 200 and MAS 90 ERP software.

What's nice about the forum is you do not need to register to be able to read any of the posts. And since you don't need to register you can save the direct link to the forum and it will display the new posts for that day.

I find this very helpful for a quick check on how users and consultants are managing when they install the latest upgrades or third party products. There's no registration to read these posts -- however in order to reply or create your own posts you will have to register.

MAS90 and MAS200 Address Information Upper Case Utility

Does improper formatting drive you crazy?

Do you hate it when one part of your MAS 90 customer address is in mixed case - while another is all capitals.

Here's what I'm talking about:

Mr. John Smith

140 Main Street

HARTFORD CT 060000

If you’ve had more than multiple people manage the entry of MAS90 or MAS200 customers and vendor addresses then you may have run into an issue where the address block is partly capitalized.

You may notice that the name and street address are in lowercase while the city and state portion are all uppercase. This might be because Sage performs an automatic lookup on the city/state based on the zip code you enter. When the city and state information is found it will be inserted to your system using either all uppercase or mixed (upper and lower) — depending upon the option you set.

How To Move Sage ERP MAS 90 & MAS 200 Paperless Office - Even Forms!

If you’re moving the location of your existing Sage MAS90 or MAS200 accounting system – don’t forget that you will also need to move any related paperless office PDF files.

And dragging and dropping those files won’t work. You have to make sure that MAS 90 or MAS 200 both knows the new location (updated in paperless maintenance) and that each paperless office document record is updated with new location data.

Luckily Sage provides a way to do this via the viewer menu (other methods seem to be hit or miss and the viewer move is what’s always worked best for me).
